Oh, hello

Hi everyone, remember me!?

I think the last time I posted I was PLANNING a wedding. Now, I am writing to you as a new and rejuvenated, married lady! It's been a great (almost) year and I am still reeling from the wedding day that went off nearly without a hitch. I have lived another day to tell you about it here, or to at least share a few of my favorite pictures, and add the details at another time.

The best way to go about this, probably in sections, I would hate to overwhelm you!

This is a start (teaser) and I assure you, it won't be as long before I post again! New and exciting things are on the horizon as I help friends gather ideas to make their special days amazing!

Stay tuned and happy planning!

Crunch Time {priorities first, right?}

I had a little chuckle yesterday as I read my Horoscope. Maybe you don't believe in all that astrology mumbo jumbo, I read it for fun, and sometimes it's dead on.

SCORPIO
August 8th, 2011
OHH my you are in a mood,
this may last till the end of the month even!
Parties, celebrations, social gatherings
music, dance and vacations are very high
on your priority list now,
You are in a party mood and you seek
fun and excitement

I couldn't agree more! So, I'm off to begin the ultimate crunch, and get busy on the leftover tasks. Time to buckle down {for real this time} and try and get something accomplished. Another set of lists perhaps!? Either way, I think my horoscope is trying to tell me something. Something BIG is on the horizon and I need to get it together! Focus!

***News Flash***

Another exciting day in our world... the lists are finally getting shorter!

We may have found a ceremony officiant that is right up our alley. I went on a huge search last week which lead me from one minister {who was unfortunately booked} straight to another. We are trying to set up a consultation for some time next week, and I am really looking forward to meeting him in person!

I also had a Job Interview this morning!! Not to toot my own horn, but I think it went well!

Wish us luck and I will update as the details unfold, so stay tuned!

rings on her fingers and bells on her shoes

If you know me well, you know that I am a huge lover of the Grateful Dead. Today just happens to be the birthday of their own Jerry Garcia! This morning I started thinking about my favorite Grateful Dead song, Scarlet Begonias {I even posted a video of it}. Some people would argue that Jerry and Robert Hunter wrote this song about their first meeting with Janis Joplin, I could totally believe it.

I started thinking as I listened to the song lyrics how wonderful and beautiful a scarlet begonia themed wedding would be! Vintage, a little hippie, reds and lots of flowers would have to set the tone...

If you don't already know it, isten to the song here, maybe you can feel the inspiration from the lyrics!

3 is the magic number

Well, here I am, three months away from wedded bliss! Or something along those lines, at least.

I'm going to be honest and tell you that I haven't been accomplishing too much since the last time I posted. Remember the list? It just keeps getting longer. At this point I am still trying to get all of my ducks in a row, tie up some of these last minute details and in the midst of all of this... get a job.

Yipes!

Lately, I have been quite focused on the little girls in our wedding party, picking out the dresses and thinking about styling them. In fact, KW's sister and I have been planning a little photo shoot with them. Did I mention there are SEVEN in our bridal party? That's right, four flower girls and three junior maids. We are very blessed to have such a large family, and we couldn't think of a better way to share this special day with our nieces! Really, how could we choose? We can't. So everyone gets to play a part!

The dress situation did pose a problem at first. I wanted the girls to look similar, but when you range in age from 15 all the way down to 5, it can be a struggle. Luckily, I had KW's sister volunteer to spend a day with me searching for something that would compliment them. I cannot wait to see these beautiful girls done up and in these gorgeous dresses!

My other thought was, what would they be doing? Obviously the little ones will throw the petals, but I think the older girls would be almost offended. Teenagers, right? I'm only kidding! Then, it dawned on me, I am completely obsessed with lavender! So much, that I plan to add some of it along with the tossed rose petals, just for a little something extra. Now, I'm not going to give too much away, but here is my inspiration for the older girls. I think it will look lovely against the pale pink dresses, don't you?

I am so in love with the lavender bouquets. At least the wheels continue to turn, as I continue to find inspiration. I will definitely showcase the bridesmaid dresses soon. Next on my list... who knows?

Procrastination will get you nowhere

The sweltering inferno that is Central Ohio has me feeling rather lazy today. But, I figure today is as good as any to stay inside and make a list of the To Do's that I need to accomplish before the next few weeks come to an end. It is not time to procrastinate! Unfortunately, that is exactly what I've been up to the last week or so. I didn't realize until I looked at the calendar that we are almost THREE months away from Wedding-palooza 2011 {3 months and 1 week to be exact; is there an app for that?} eep! And thus, the list begins!

ain't that the truth

1. Find An Officiant
Ok, you may be asking yourself... are you nuts?!?! And I may very well be. We cannot get married unless we have someone to marry us! At this point I have no clue what we are going to do. I was raised Catholic and KW was raised Baptist, we need some middle ground here, any suggestions are welcome of course. I have the entire ceremony in my head {and a lot of it typed up too} I need someone who is a good speaker, someone we really jive with on a spiritual level to give a nice prayer. Mostly, I want the ceremony to speak about us as a couple, not your typical cookie cutter "do you take her to be your wife..." stuff

2. Pick Out Groom/Groomsmen Formalwear
At least we have a bit of a handle on this. My mother and I went and scoped out some nice looks last week. Nothing too stuffy of course! Now we need KW to buckle down and go take a look himself. I will cut him some slack, he has been away for work... oh, the last three months. My thought is a nice suit, something that will look good with the stunning chocolate brown frocks my maids will be wearing.

3. Rentals
Ahh yes, the one thing about having the ceremony and reception in a beautiful {and convenient} mansion right in town, is the lack of furniture. It's not exactly full-service, but does provide a few essentials.
We will need chairs for the ceremony and reception {or can we move them from one site to the other?}
We are looking at a tent, since who knows what weather cards late October will be playing.
A dance floor maybe.
Linens
Etc etc etc...

4. Make all the essential appointments: Hair, makeup, nails

Boy, the list just gets longer and longer the more I think about it! I might need to take a break and go through my ceremony planner, bridal mags, love sonnet books and receipts...

behold, my workspace

What's left on your list?
Happy Planning!

US Blues

In remembrance of the Grateful Dead's last show on this very day in 1995
{and to keep the 4th of July spirit alive}
here's a nod to one of my favorite colors!

BLUE

Blue is one of those multi-season colors, it can transition from Summer all the way through to Winter and Spring. You know the old saying something old, something new, something borrowed, something BLUE. It's a wedding tradition And who wouldn't want to be tangled up in blue on their wedding day!?!

You can use it in so many wonderful ways!
Of course, I have to add a video from the last weekend of dead shows ever, just for my own personal file.
